Our Mission

"Our mission is not simply to provide services. It is to support people in living meaningful lives within their communities."

Serving adults with developmental disabilities in Warrensburg, Johnson County, and the surrounding region.

The individuals Abilities LLC supports are whole people. They have personalities, preferences, relationships, histories, and futures. Our job is to understand who they are and support them in living lives that are genuinely their own.

We are here to support people through life as it naturally occurs — not to protect them from every difficult or uncomfortable experience.

The individuals we support are entitled to experience joy, pride, excitement, frustration, disappointment, sadness, conflict, growth, and resilience. We believe independence, confidence, and a meaningful life are built through experience — not through protection from it.

Our job is to walk alongside individuals, provide support when needed, and step back when it is not. The goal is always greater independence, not greater dependence on staff.

Our Core Values

Three words that show up in every shift report.

I.

Integrity

Acting honestly, ethically, and responsibly in everything we do — following laws, policies, and procedures; protecting individual rights; taking accountability; and being truthful with coworkers and leadership even when it's uncomfortable.

II.

Community

Building genuine belonging, inclusion, and connection — within our homes, our workplaces, and the wider community. We create environments where individuals are active members of their communities, and where employees show up as teammates supporting one another.

III.

Empathy

Approaching every interaction with compassion, patience, and understanding. Listen first. Respond without judgment. Recognize that everyone you work alongside is carrying something you may not see.

Every person has the right to take reasonable risks, make choices, and experience natural consequences. Unnecessary restriction or overprotection — driven by fear or convenience rather than legitimate safety concerns — is not protective. It is a rights violation.

Safety is not the absence of risk. Quality support balances preparation, guidance, and respect for autonomy.

This isn't a slogan — it's how every program at Abilities LLC is designed. We follow the federal HCBS Final Rule to the letter: no blanket house rules, no informal restrictions, every individual's preferences respected. Our staff are trained to coach choice, not to manage compliance.

What Sets Us Apart

In-house clinical depth most small agencies subcontract.

Tiered Supports

The right level of support, not too much or too little.

We follow Missouri DMH's Tiered Supports framework — universal good practice for everyone, targeted help for those with additional needs, and intensive individualized planning for the most complex situations.

Clinical Team

BCBAs, RBTs, and nurses on staff.

Most small DD agencies refer behavior and nursing services out. We have Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Registered Behavior Technicians, a Community RN, and a Community LPN supporting every home.

Crisis Trained

MANDT-certified, Tools of Choice trained.

We have a dedicated in-house MANDT Instructor and a certified Tools of Choice facilitator. Every staff member receives trauma-informed crisis prevention training before working with the individuals we support.

Abilities LLC was founded in 2003 by Natasha Meddock and remains a single-owner S-Corporation rooted in Warrensburg. Two decades on, the agency has grown to about 85 team members supporting adults with developmental disabilities across Johnson County and the surrounding region.

Local ownership means decisions get made close to the work. There's no distant corporate office, no quarterly investor calls — just an agency built and run by people who answer to the families and individuals we serve.

Our entire model rests on a simple equation: support our employees well, and they will support our individuals well. Our Direct Support Professionals are the foundation of the residential program — and we treat the role with the respect and compensation it deserves. The team includes:

  • Direct Support Professionals — the backbone of every home
  • House Managers and Assistant House Managers — running each home with care
  • Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and RBTs — designing and delivering ABA programming in-house
  • Community RN and LPN — providing nursing oversight and delegation
  • Community Support Professionals — facilitating real community connection
  • Program Managers, Office Manager, Maintenance Director — keeping the operation running

We invest in our team through competitive wages, transparent pay bands, comprehensive benefits, and ongoing professional development — all training paid for by the agency.
